Our Privacy Promise — Training Without the Data Concerns
We believe pelvic floor training should not require you to hand over personal data before you have experienced any value. Here is exactly how we handle privacy.
Our core privacy commitment
You should not have to create an account, provide personal information, or hand over data before you have experienced any value from kegela. That is not a marketing claim — it is a design principle.
The free trainer works without an account. It has always worked without an account. You can do one session, ten sessions, or a hundred sessions, and you will never be asked for your name, email address, or any other personal information unless you specifically choose to provide it.
Why we built it this way
Pelvic floor health is an intimate subject. The idea that you should have to hand over personal data — your name, your email, your phone number — before you can try a gentle exercise that millions of people do every day, is not something we believe in.
Beyond that, we understand that some people are cautious about health-adjacent apps and browser extensions. That caution is legitimate. Data practices in the wellness app space are not always transparent, and the consequences of data misuse in this space can feel particularly sensitive.
We built kegela differently because we think the product should earn your trust before asking for your information, not demand it as a condition of access.
What you can do without an account
With no account and no sign-up:
- Complete guided pelvic floor training sessions - Read all guides, FAQs, and articles on the website - Download and install the browser extension - Use the extension for reminder and quick-access functions
The only limitation without an account is that your session history is stored locally in your browser or device, and it is not synced across devices or connected to an email.
What creating an account enables
If and when you decide you want the following, you can create an account:
- Session history sync — access your training records across devices - Extension sync — connect your website and extension training records - Streak tracking — maintain consistent day-to-day practice tracking across surfaces - Account continuity — pick up where you left off if you change browsers or devices
Creating an account requires an email address. That is it. You can sign in with Google, which means you do not need to create a new password or share a new password with us.
What we collect and do not collect
When you use the free trainer without an account: We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying personal information. Your session data (if any is generated) stays in your browser's local storage.
When you create an account: We collect your email address and the minimal information needed to provide account functionality. We do not sell this information, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than providing the service you signed up for.
When you install the extension: The extension stores data locally to function. If you connect it to your account, it syncs your training activity. We do not collect data about your browsing habits, the websites you visit, or anything unrelated to your kegela training.
When you contact us: If you reach out through the site for support or feedback, we may keep a record of that communication to help you. We do not add you to marketing lists without clear consent.
Cookies and browser storage
We use minimal cookies and local storage for:
- Remembering your language preference (English or Chinese) - Maintaining anonymous session identity for training session uploads - Account authentication when you are signed in
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any form of cross-site tracking.
Data security
Your account data is stored securely. We follow standard practices for authentication security, including hashed passwords and secure session management.
No system is 100% immune from risk, and we do not make absolute security guarantees. What we can say is that we take security seriously, keep our systems updated, and do not store more data than is necessary.
Your data rights
If you have an account, you can:
- Download your data at any time (contact us through the site to request this) - Delete your account and associated data (contact us to initiate this) - Choose not to use Google sign-in and instead use email/password if you prefer not to authenticate through a third party
We will respond to data requests within a reasonable timeframe, consistent with applicable data protection laws.
What happens if we change this policy
If we update our privacy policy in a way that changes what we collect or how we use it, we will notify existing account holders by email (if we have one) and post a clear notice on the website before the changes take effect.
We will not retroactively change the terms to cover data we previously did not collect, without notice and consent.
The browser extension and your computer
The kegela browser extension is designed to function locally on your computer, just like the website. It does not:
- Access other websites you browse - Read your browsing history - Install anything on your computer beyond the extension itself - Collect data about your general browsing behavior
Its only functions are: providing training reminders if you opt in, giving you quick access to the trainer, and syncing your kegela training data if you are signed in.
Our broader philosophy
We believe privacy is not just a compliance obligation — it is a product design choice. Products that demand maximum data access before delivering value are making a trade that we do not think is fair to users.
We would rather build a product that earns data sharing through demonstrated value, rather than one that locks value behind a data gate. That is why the most useful part of kegela — the guided trainer — has always been, and will always remain, available without an account.
If you have questions about our privacy practices that are not answered here, please use the contact options on the site. We will do our best to answer them clearly and honestly.
